Elderly couple thanks Punjab CM

LAHORE: An elderly couple from Multan, which had been subjected to torture, met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town.

Muhammad Idrees, Nasim Bibi and their daughter Madiha thanked the chief minister for solving their 30 years old issue. Nasim Bibi said the issue pertaining to their land had been resolved and they were happy now. “The chief minister won our hearts by announcing financial aid for the marriage of my two daughters,” she added. “The chief minister helped us get justice.”

Shahbaz said that providing solutions to problems was his duty. He announced Rs 5 lakh for each daughter as a financial grant for their marriages. The Senior Member Board of Revenue, the Secretary Livestock and other officials were present, while the Commissioner and the RPO Multan Division attended the meeting through the video-link.

Later, Shahbaz visited the Johar Town residence of 21-years old 2nd Lt Abdul Moeed who embraced martyrdom in North Waziristan.

He met the parents and other siblings of the martyred officer and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Shahbaz said Moeed has set an example of bravery. “Brave sons of the country are sacrificing their lives for the motherland are are our real heroes and the sons like Abdul Moeed are the pride of the motherland. Moeed’s father said he has been blessed with the martyrdom of his son and it is part of “our faith that the martyrs live forever”.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also condoled the deaths of Air Marshal (retd)Asghar Khan and Zubaida Aapa the sister of famous writer Anwar Maqsood. He offered Fateha for the departed souls.

He also condoled the death of Allama Mufti Muhammad Amin writer of Aab-e-Kausar and Al-Burhan and offered Fateha for him.
