National culture to be promoted through Metro Bus track pillars
Rawalpindi : All 292 pillars under the Metro Bus track from Saddar to Faizabad will be used to promote Pakistani culture and civilisation. In this regard, Parks and Horticultural Agency (PHA) with backing of city’s advertisers and students of National College of the Arts (NCA) will start beautification of the pillars between Saddar and Faizabad in two weeks.
PHA Managing Director Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq told ‘The News’ that we wanted to promote national culture and civilisation of Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan and Kashmir, through artwork on the pillars. He said “Colourful lights will be installed to glorify the artwork especially at night.”
In this regard we are in contact with National College of Arts (NCA) students and city’s advertising agencies. In a couple of days, PHA would invite different agencies through advertisement to participate in beautification of Rawalpindi, he said.
On the other hand, the authority has deployed watchdogs on different points particularly at Shamsabad, Sixth Road and Chandni Chowk to stop theft of expensive plants under metro bus track.
Thieves have already stolen dozens of expensive plants from the track. “Plants counting and survey under the track from Saddar to Faizabad is also continued and would be completed in some days,” he said.
He said there was a strict banned to install any board or chalking on the pillars. He warned that an FIR would be lodged against the violators if caught red-handed.
The beautification work around Benazir Bhutto Road was already continued where painters showed their skills by paint walls and installing statues at different points of city.
