Rawalpindi : Living nation never forget their national heroes and pay rich tribute to them with a pledge to be guided by their vision and mission leading the nation to the highest of glory .With this view ‘Quaid-i-Azam Day’ was celebrated in the Salma Masud auditorium of F.G Postgraduate College for Women Kashmir Road Rawalpindi here on Friday.

Principal Mrs Rana Arshad Qazi presided over the ceremony. In addition to Quaid-i-Azam Day the importance of ‘International Day for Persons With Disability’ held every year on December 3, was also brought to light.

The ceremony started with recitation of Quranic verses by Hira Shafique. Amna Satti presented Naat e Rasool e Maqbool. Sehrish Batool presented an introduction to the event and its significance. Parsa Waqar in her speech “Quaid-i -Azam and Youth” stressed upon the importance of education and youth as expressed by the founder of our nation. She referred to the famous words of Stanley Wolpert in her speech who said “Few individual significantly alter the course of history, fewer still modify the map of the world, hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation state. M.A Jinnah did all three. “Hira Shafique and Nighat Siddique presented choicest national songs in their melodious voices that instilled national zeal and zest in the audience.

A special drama entitled ‘Ghar to Akhir Apna hay’ prepared under the guidance of Mrs. Nadia Naghman was greatly inspirational. Focusing on the theme of the national unity it was the story of the family unit at stake, due to external intrigues and schemes, yet it ended on the resolve that no internal or external agent can defeat us if we stay united. This was followed by a fabulous and inspiring tableau on the famous national song ‘Youn Di Hamain Azadi’. Girls clad and adorned as the famous characters of our history such as Quaid-i-Azam, Fatima Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Liaquat Ali Khan, Nehru, Gandhi, Rana Liaquit Ali and British lords were a great success. The tableau won a great deal of applause from every one present there.

With reference to the ‘international day of persons with disability’ ex college students Irum Shabeer and Ayesha Azhar (without sight) were interviewed about their struggle and the challenges that they faced during the journey of their life and academic career. At the end, the principal Mrs. Rana Arshad Qazi distributed the certificates among the participants.
