PFA bans making, sale of Choran

Lahore: The Scientific Panel of Punjab Authority Food (PFA) has imposed a ban on preparation and sale of all kinds of Choran (a flavoured chemically treated edible salt)

The Scientific Panel took this decision after a research found Choran dangerous for health. While speaking regarding ban on Choran, PFA Director General Noor ul Amin Mengal said that the non-food grade tartaric acid was found in Choran which could cause stomach and other diseases. He said that it was mostly eaten by children who were most affected by the diseases caused by it. The ban has been imposed under the PFA Act 2011, he said. The decision was taken for the health of the public, he added.

The PFA DG also warned the people associated with the business of Choran to stop making and selling it, otherwise, a strict action would be taken against them. LDA help: Capital City Police Officer Captain ® Amin Wains, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf and other high-ranking police officers visited the Lahore Development Authority office here on Friday.

They visited the office on the invitation of LDA Director General Zahid Akhtar Zaman. The top brass of the city police assured the LDA authorities of their full cooperation in its efforts for against land grabbers, demolition of illegal constructions and removal of encroachments. CCPO Amin Wains observed that LDA was playing a commendable role in development of infrastructure in the city.

traffic management: Punjab Traffic Police DIG Muhammad Farooq Mazhar has said that a comprehensive strategy is being devised with the consultation of Turkish experts for permanent solution to traffic management problems.

He said this while addressing a 12-member official delegation of Turkey at Traffic Headquarters. He said the strategy would focus the transport system on roads, issues of parking, obedience to lane system and removal of encroachments and other issues.
