Differences in Nowshera ANP deepen
NOWSHERA: The differences in Awami National Party (ANP) over party tickets allotment intensified as party office-bearers of six union councils and Risalpur Cantonment resigned from party’s basic membership.
Around 600 office-bearers and activists of six Union Council of provincial assembly constituency PK-16 and Risalpur given their resignations to former state minister and party leader Masood Abbas Khattak and empowered him to make any decision about their political future.
Those quit the party included ANP district general secretary Khushal Khan, secretary information Saifullah Khan and others.
The differences had developed after the party parliament board awarded party ticket to Pervez Ahmad Khan instead of Masood Abbas for the next general election.
A meeting of the party office-bearers and dissident activists from PK-16 was held at the residence of Masood Abbas in Akora Khattak.
The participants criticised the member of party’s parliamentary board for what they argued ignoring the workers opinion in award of party tickets to candidates.
They said that decisions in this regard were being imposed on the workers which were not acceptable to them.
The dissident party office-bearers and workers advised Masood Abbas to contest the election even in independent capacity if he had to do it.
They said that Pervez Ahmad Khan was awarded party ticket for contesting the elections and alleged that he divided the party and worked against the party interest in Nowshera.
