NAB arrests LDA officer for graft

LAHORE:National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore, taking cognisance of a number of complaints of embezzlement in housing societies worth billion of rupees, has arrested a Deputy Director, Lahore Development Authority (LDA), for his alleged involvement in fabricating bogus plots and files in Mustafa Town.

According to a NAB spokesman, the LDA deputy director was identified as Ahmed Khan. NAB Lahore has acquired the physical remand of accused Ahmed Khan from Accountability Court till 23rd December, 2017.

He said NAB Lahore DG authorised investigations against officials of LDA in June 2017, regarding manipulations found in preparing, approving and sale of around 16 bogus files of Mustafa Town, Lahore. It was alleged that millions of rupees have been embezzled by LDA officers in connivance with other private persons. Backdated bogus exemption files were prepared but fee was deducted later to make files genuine, he added.

“Investigations at hand contained 16 plot files, whereas, during the course of investigation, eight plot files have so far been detected as bogus where bogus exemption had been granted”, the spokesman said.

NAB Lahore has arrested six accused and three accused have agreed to return all the looted money. bogus transactions: In an embezzlement of over Rs230 million in 733 bogus transactions in Punjab Constabulary- 3 Multan, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has arrested one accused assistant account officer. According to an ACE official, the accused was identified as Ahmad Bakhsh Jaskani.
