JAMRUD: A jirga of tribal maliks on Thursday opposed the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking at a jirga here, Malik Manan Mulagori, Malik Salahuddin, Malik Bahadur Shah, Malik Nadir Khan and others said that they would oppose introduction of corrupt police system in Fata.
They announced that fine would be imposed on tribespeople who would provide land for establishment of police stations in Fata.
“Implementation of a corrupt system in Fata that has failed to deliver in the rest of the country will be tantamount to undermining the tribespeople’s sacrifices,” one of the maliks said.
