City shivers under foggy conditions

LAHORE : Partly cloudy, cold and dry weather was observed in the city here Wednesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

In Lahore, maximum temperature remain 14°C, minimum was 9.6°C and humidity level was 83 percent on Wednesday. Met officials said a westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and may persist during next 24 to 48 hours.

They predicted that more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, upper Fata, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, whereas cold weather in Sindh and Balochistan. They predicted that foggy conditions are likely over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.

Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 33mm, Risalpur 25mm, Malam Jabba 20mm, Dir, Pattan 18mm, Mirkhani 15mm, Kalam 14mm, Balakot 10mm, Drosh 08mm, Lower Dir, Chitral, Peshawar (A/P 07mm, City Trace), Saidu Sharif 06mm, Parachinar, Bannu 01mm. Punjab: Rawalpindi (Chaklala 21mm, Shamsabad 15mm), Islamabad (Saidpur 21mm, Zero Point 17mm, Golra, Bokra 13mm), Murree 16mm, Kashmir: Muzaffarabad 12mm, Rawalakot 07mm, Garhi Dupatta 05mm, Kotli 02mm. Snowfall recorded in Malam Jabba 10inch, Kalam 07inch, Astore Trace & Murree 01 foot.

Wednesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Kalat where mercury dropped down to -08°C, Quetta while in Lahore, maximum temperature was 14°C, minimum was 9.6°C and humidity level was 83 percent.
