NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) district president Malik Juma Khan has said that he would abide by the directives of the party leadership about tickets distribution.

Through a statement, he appreciated the party decision for awarding tickets to Hamid Ali Khan for PK-14 and Pervez Ahmed Khan for PK-16. He said that the tickets were awarded on merit.

Malik Aftab Khan, Ijaz Hussain, Hamid Ali Khan and Muhammad Ayaz had filed application for PK-14 while Pervez Ahmed Khan, Masood Abbas Khattak were the strong candidates among the applicants.

Jamal Khattak, former provincial minister Iqbal Hussain Khattak, Shahid Khan Khattak, Jehanzeb Khattak and Tariq Khattak have applied for the party ticket for NA-5.

Ihrar Khattak, Malik Juma Khan, Ihsanullah Wazir and others had applied for NA-6.

The party sources said that Tairq Khattak had a long meeting with Parliamentary Board chairman Ameer Haider Hoti. However, Hoti had informed the aspirant that the party had decided to give ticket to Jamal Khattak.

The sources said that the board was considering awarding the NA-5 ticket to Mian Iftikhar Hussain in case a consensus candidate could not be finalised.

Misan Iftikhar would then contest election on NA-5 and PK-12. However, most of the members of the parliamentary board were in favour of Jamal Khattak.

The ANP is expected to convince Masood Abbas Khattak to contest election on NA-6 as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) voters wanted Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to contest election from NA-6.
