A six-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted last week identified her rapist in an identification parade in the court of the judicial magistrate for District South on Wednesday.
The accused, Nasir Ali, was handed over to the police on a five-day physical remand. He is alleged to have kidnapped the child from an area falling under the remit of the Tipu Sultan police and raping her.
The investigation officer (IO) told the court that according to testimonies gathered, Ali was a habitual criminal. He asked the court to grant physical remand of the accused so that interrogation and a medical examination, including a DNA test, could be conducted. The court granted the accused’ physical remand till December 18 and directed the IO to submit an investigation report at the next hearing.
