Crime in the time of election
Just as Pakistan nears election year, the authorities have started doing development work that is likely to help shape the results of the 2018 elections. Great improvements are being seen across the country. Roads are being constructed and repaired, trees are being planted and new signals are being installed. The traffic police can be seen doing their work responsibly. But one thing that should be noticed is that with less than a year to go before the election, there has been a sudden increase in the number of cases of theft. The incidents, including but not limited to, kidnapping for ransom and mobile robbery are increasing at a fast pace.
So what should be concluded with this? Are extremist parties covering their cost of election campaigns through these acts? Or are they creating such situations themselves just to quote in their election speeches that they will work for the betterment of the law and order situation? Why is it that during the time of election campaigns there is an increase in such activities? It is time these parties and their leaders stopped playing with the minds of the citizens and did something constructive for the country.
