India allocates Rs10b for sports

ISLAMABAD: The Indian government has set aside Rs10 billion (Indian rupees) for the development of sports and has decided to give Rs500,000 each to 1,000 sportspersons in the under-17 categories for eight years to encourage them take up sports as a career.Indian government has also decided to pick 150 districts and promote two to three sports in each of the district.The Indian government has also made it must for their national TV channels for telecast all the domestic events live to encourage youth.The Indian Ministry of Sports claimed that the investment would help groom future Olympians.
