LAHORE: The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) organised a ceremony in connection with Christmas here on Tuesday.

Pastor Shahid Miraj, LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi, staff and Christian employees of the institution along with their families attended the ceremony. A number of students joined the ceremony to greet the Christian community.

In her address, the VC said the university was fully aware of the welfare of employees. She said a staff welfare fund, with one million rupees, has been set up in this regard. The Christian community was an important part of our society, she said.

Pastor Shahid Miraj said Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus was a symbol of peace, brotherhood and respect for the entire humanity. He said Jesus not only healed the ailing humanity but preached the divine values of tolerance, love and compassion. “It’s time to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ,” he said. Dr Uzma along with the staff cut a cake and distributed gifts among the children of Christian staff.
