HARARE: Zimbabwe medium-pacer Tendai Chatara has been recalled to the Test side for the upcoming historic four-day game against South Africa, set to begin on Boxing Day.
Chatara has seven Tests to his name, but his last appearance in whites for Zimbabwe came way back in 2014. Besides Chatara, Zimbabwe have also included two new faces - fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani and batsman Ryan Burl - in 15-man squad. The Graeme Cremer-led side is scheduled to reach South Africa on Thursday (December 14) and will face the Cricket South Africa Invitation XI in a day-night three-day warm-up game, starting on December 20 at Boland Park in Paarl. The four-day Test, also a day-night affair, will be played at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. The 21-year-old Muzarabani is a right-arm fast bowler, who has 18 wickets in his five first class outings so far.
Squad: Graeme Cremer (captain), Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Regis Chakabva, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarabani, Tendai Chisoro, Peter Moor, Solomon Mire, Kyle Jarvis, Chris Mpofu.
