Reforms aimed at facilitating plaintiffs: LHC CJ
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said the objective behind reforms in LHC and district judiciary was to make an ordinary person’s life easy and facilitate the plaintiffs – real stakeholders of the system.
He asked media to organise a survey in all 36 districts to understand how the reforms were benefitting the people. Addressing the administrative senior civil judges at the Punjab Judicial Academy, the chief justice said a senior civil judge (admin) was appointed in every district seven back ago because the senior civil judge could not look after the administrative tasks while performing the judicial duties. Appointment of three senior civil judges in each district was also part of the reforms, he added.
The chief justice said the duty of an admin judge was of reformer, reminding the audience that running the process according to modern ideas and introducing these in courts. About the latest methodology used in Lahore, he said the bailiff takes a selfie while delivering a notice which is attached to the case using the GPS technology. Several other ideas were surfacing, which needed to be implemented, he noted.
The chief justice said the admin judges’ role was of a change agent and required people with new thinking and activeness. He said they must also be equipped with the expertise in information technology and added that the layout of websites of all districts should be the same. The chief justice said the information about their respective districts should also be shared with the people through mainstream and social media.
