Festival at Lok Virsa
Islamabad: The Ministry of Human Rights will organise a full-day ‘Human Rights Festival’ at Lok Virsa today (Sunday) in connection with the International Human Rights Day to reaffirm its commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights in the country.
A senior ministry official told 'The News' that since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1948, the day reminded all nations of the world to adhere to protecting inviolable human rights and preserve human values.
He said the government was committed to promoting national unity and building the country as a great nation according to the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The official said the ministry was steadfastly working with the commitment for equality of all human beings and peaceful co-existence as well as non-discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, colour, sex, race and religion, the statement read.
