ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is seeking details from regulatory bodies about 31 Pakistanis named in Paradise Papers for having offshore assets.
Earlier a similar request was made regarding financial details of 344 Pakistanis whose names appeared in PanamaLeaks. The FBR has sent a list of 18 Pakistanis named in Paradise Leaks to SECP, NADRA and FIA to get details about their financial transactions, businesses and international travels during the last 10 years.
This list is in addition to a list of 13 names sent to SECP, NADRA, SBP and FIA seeking details about their international travels and offshore companies in last 10 years.
SECP responded that these 13 persons have registered 86 companies in their names in last ten years. FIA replied that in last ten years these persons have extensive travel history and some of them even have two passports.
When The news contacted Chairman Tariq Pasha to get few words regarding the expected action against these persons, he was not available. This correspondent waited to get the FBR chairman's version for more than 13 days but he never responded despite repeated messages dropped in his office.
