Pakistan’s Rabia Imran, an AS-level student at the Dawood Public School (DPS), achieved a distinction in environmental management in the May-June 2014 Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) across Karachi.
“The first thing I did upon hearing this news was pinch myself to ensure I am not dreaming,” said an excited Rabia. “It was unbelievable. Usually students do not opt for such subjects, as they consider them unimportant or that they would be difficult to achieve a good grade. My distinction is a testimony that it’s about time that we students break the monotony and pursue subjects that not only add value to our resume but also to the society.”
She said environmental management was a very relevant subject in today’s world where a lot of emphasis was being attached to environmental protection and restoration, both locally and globally.
DPS A-level Principal Huma Thaver said students like Rabia were motivators for teachers as well, because she had put in extra efforts to ensure an outstanding academic performance. She said DPS students were known for producing exceptional results
