Motorcyclist knocked dead by trailer

A motorcyclist died in a collision with a trailer at Habib Bank Chowrangi on Thursday. SITE-A police SHO Sabir Khattak said the 25-year-old man died on the spot after his motorbike was hit by the trailer bearing registration number SB-1698.
Police arrested the driver, Akram, and impounded the trailer. SHO Khattak said that the body of the deceased was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal examination, and later it was carried to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.
Recklessly driven heavy vehicles have claimed hundreds of lives in the city this year, but the authorities have failed to bring the majority of the culprits to justice. The errant drivers remain at large, and no action is taken against the powerful owners of the vehicles.
