Over 25,000 get psychological first aid

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, under its Restoring Family Links (RFL) initiative provided psychological first aid to 25,136 individuals during 2016-17.
Talking to reporters on Thursday, RFL Coordinator Beena Khan said that the PRCS posted RFL officers in nine public sector hospitals of the province for this purpose.She said that these officers provided not only psychological first aid to patients but also free consultation and phone call services for reuniting people with their families. Beena Khan said a total of 14,568 patients were assisted in 2016 and 10,554 in 2017, adding the PRCS KP provided these services in case of emergencies and routine.
Speaking about the future plans for the programme, she said that the PRCS KP was extending the services in Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad and Malakand districts.
