LAHORE: Around 180 passengers had to suffer a lot all day because a technical fault occurred in a PIA plane bound to leave for Toronto, Canada, from Allama Iqbal Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
PK-789 direct flight of the PIA was bound to leave at 12: 30pm Tuesday afternoon with 179 passengers but due to a technical fault the flight was delayed for a number of times. The management of the PIA managed hotel stay for over 90 passengers of various cities of the country whereas over 80 left for their homes in Lahore.
The airport sources said the management of the PIA had intimated the passengers at least twice about their departure time because of which they rushed to the airport only to know further delay in the scheduled flight.
Some passengers had also exchanged harsh words with the PIA management for inviting them to the airport without addressing the fault first.
When contacted, a spokesman of the PIA said the delay was observed due to a technical fault. He said a lot of time was consumed to fix the problem as equipment and parts had to bring from Karachi. By evening, the spokesman said technicians had addressed the issue but crew could not embark on the journey because a night curfew is imposed in Toronto and they wanted to avoid that. He said now the flight would leave for its destination on early Wednesday at 4am.
