LAHORE :A three-day training workshop on “Outcome Based Education in Higher Education Institutions” started at the Government College University (GCU) on Monday.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah chaired the inaugural session of the workshop. The GCU Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organised the workshop I collaboration with the Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission.
Prof Dr Hassan Shah said pedagogy had become highly advanced, so the training for the university teachers, especially young faculty members, must be declared mandatory. He asked the participants to focus on all the students in their classroom and encourage them to raise queries. He hoped that the participants would endeavour to apply what they gained from the training. GCU QEC Director Iram Sohail said the workshop would conduct nine technical sessions, including students' assessment techniques, communication skills, quality assurance, critical thinking and reasoning and how to develop learning outcomes in the context of outcome based learning. University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Department of Anatomy Chairperson Dr Hafsa Zainab said university teachers were not supposed to teach a specific discipline rather their job description was wider.
