KARACHI: Sindh is all set to produce over 1,000MW of renewable energy on the basis of wind power by 2018, coinciding with the change of power in the country after the next general elections, said speakers at a media briefing on Monday.
Resultantly, a strong, robust, and statutory regime is required to sustain and further increase achievements of Pakistan in the arena of alternative energy that will work uninterruptedly regardless of change of governments in Islamabad and in the provinces after the forthcoming elections, they added.
The 2nd International Wind Energy Summit is being organised in Karachi on November 22, 2017 to discuss all such issues related to the promotion of clean energy production in the country, as Sindh leads all other provinces in this cause due to abundance of wind power resources.
Wind Energy Summit Organising Committee Chairman Naeem Qureshi said this, while briefing newsmen about salient features of the upcoming moot.
Qureshi said that Sindh, owing to presence of Pakistan’s first wind corridor in Gahro-Jhimpir area, had already achieved installed capacity of 788.5MW of wind-based power generation due to 15 wind projects that had entered into operational phase.
