LAHORE :Almost all seasonal vegetables were not sold in the weekly makeshift markets of the city due to wrong pricing issue while there was no management to ensure the availability of the perishables for the public.
The vendors stocked the vegetables with them in the makeshift markets. However, they refused to sell claiming that the price cards issued by the market committee officials were almost half of their buying price. They were selling vegetables to only those who were willing to pay their asking price which was almost 40 to 100 percent of the official rates.
The market committee Lahore officials deputed in the Shadman makeshift market said they followed the official rates issued by the secretary market committee Lahore duly signed by District Commissioner office representatives and other officials concerned. They said if the officials deputed in Badami Bagh wholesale markets were unable to fix the correct price of the perishable then it could not be implemented in the open market and weekly makeshift markets. They admitted flaws in the official price list which resulted in non-selling of vegetables in makeshift markets despite the vendors stock the vegetables with them.
