ASI injured in brick attack

OKARA: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was injured during a scuffle with a citizen here on Friday.
The police ASI Riaz Ahmed was performing duty at the general bus stand when he checked accused bike rider Ghulam Mustafa Bhatti of Shergarh but he failed to produce the official documents of the motorbike.
The assistant sub-inspector (ASI) challaned him and imposed a fine of Rs200. At this, Bhatti turned outrageous and hurled abuses against him. Later, the accused allegedly picked up a brick and threw it towards the ASI.
He then grappled Ahmed. Some bystanders rescued the assistant sub-inspector and a case was registered against Ghulam Mustafa with the B-Division police station.

The house unanimously elected Rao Mujeeb Alam as patron, Munir Chaudhry chairman, Mian Ali Raza vice-chairman, Sheikh Shahbaz Shaheen president, Tariq Khan Baloch senior vice-president, Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry vice-president, Dr Abdus Sattar Shahid vice-president, Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmad Jat secretary general, Hafeez Nizami additional secretary, Zulfiqar Malik finance secretary, and Raheel Malik information secretary.
According to the press club’s constitution, the elected office-bearers would serve the club for a period of two years.
