LALAMUSA: Norwegian Ambassador Leif H Larsen has said that Norway wants peace and prosperity in Pakistan.
Talking to newsmen and notables at Dera Kaira on Monday, he said that Norway was cooperating with Pakistan in different sectors, including education and health. He said that Norway was also cooperating with police on a project to interrogate criminals with the latest technology, who slipped away after committing crimes from Pakistan to Norway and from Norway to Pakistan.
The ambassador condemned terrorism incidents in Pakistan, which were claiming the lives of innocent people. He said that the local bodies election should be held in Pakistan and the representatives should be empowered so that they could work for the betterment of the people. He said that Pakistanis settled in Norway lacked unity. PPP Punjab secretary general Chaudhry Tanveer Ashraf Kaira, PPP Gujrat district former president Chaudhry Tahir Zaman Kaira, Kharian former tehsil nazim Chaudhry Nadeem Asghar Kaira and others were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Norwegian ambassador visited the residences of Aslam Ahsan at Chohannagar (Dinga) and of former education minister Mian Imran Masood in Gujrat. He also visited the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and exchanged views with the businessmen.
