ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) organised road safety seminar at the City School Islamabad. According to a press release, Principal City Public School Saira Wasim, officers of NH&MP, academia and a large number of students of City School were also present on this occasion. The officials of the NH&MP told the participants of the seminar that the NH&MP takes strategic steps like personal briefing of the drivers, organising road safety seminars and road safety walks to minimise traffic accidents. They said that road safety is the priority of the NH&MP and the students are deemed to be the best source of road safety education. Therefore, they said the NHMP starts the road safety education programme and campaigns from school, college and university level. The officials further added that through road safety awareness programmes, we can reduce accident rate, especially by focusing the youth. They highlighted the importance of road safety i.e. seat belt, helmet, over speeding, lane violation, precautions during long journey and other traffic regulations. They took oath from the students that they will always obey the traffic rules for their own safety. Principal Saira Wasim appreciated the efforts of the NH&MP for arranging activities to highlight road safety issues and said that such activities are very beneficial in development of the society. At the end of the seminar, question-answer session was conducted by SPO Mehmood Ali Khokhar and he distributed gift hampers to the winners.
