LAHORE :Taking strong notice of torture of mute children, the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah ordered inspector general police to appoint two unarmed guards on every bus of special education department carrying special children.
The CJ took up the petition of a lawyer Syed Muqdad Naqvi at his GRO Camp office Thursday evening. The lawyer argued that boys and girls were subjected to torture in the bus carrying students of Daska Special education centre and its video had gone viral on social media.
He pointed out that conductors of the bus Muzammil and Mazhar pulled students' hair as well as abused them. He said special children got frightened due to inhuman treatment. He pointed out that in the past, such incidents had taken place in Lahore but no action had been taken against the culprits.
After hearing preliminary arguments, the CJ directed the IGP to appoint two unarmed guard on every bus of special children from today (Friday), and asked him to ensure enforcement of court's order.
The CJ also sought personal appearance of DPO, deputy commissioner, secretary special education along with report and directed Punjab Chief Secretary to furnish a comprehensive report of the incident.
