A female member of the Punjab Assembly belonging to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N has alleged that the District Officer Planning Rawalpindi has termed all women members as showpiece and stated no development work can be done on their directives.
In her privilege motion Sobia Anwar Satti said she sought administrative approval of the district planning officer of Rawalpindi for a water supply scheme of Public Health Department.
"When the district officer planning did not give approval I personally visited her office and asked the reason for this delay. She immediately told me that no development work could be done on the directives of female members," she said in the privilege motion.
Talking to The News here Sobia Anwar Satti said when she asked the district officer planning to give her remarks in writing then she said no one in the Punjab Assembly can direct her to do so. She said the district officer planning termed the female members as showpiece in the assembly that hurt the sentiments of all the women members.
