Joint flag-march held in Mardan
MARDAN: The police and army jointly arranged a flag-march in the city on Monday in a bid to maintain order in the district during Muharram.
The flag-march was led by District Police Officer (DPO), Mardan, Mian Saeed Ahmed and Colonel Ishtiaq of Punjab Regiment Centre (PRC). The flag-march started from the Police Lines Mardan and passed through different bazaars including Muqam Chowk, vegetable market, Pakistan Chowk, Shaheedano Bazaar, Chato Chowk, Shamsi Road, Bacha Khan Chowk and Sheikh Maltoon Town.
A large numbers of police and army vehicles participated in the flag-march. Later, the army and police officials visited Imambargah Haideria Bagut in Gunj Bazaar. Superintendent Police Operation Abdur Rauf Babar gave detailed briefing about the security arrangements for Muharram and the mourning processions that would be taken out from the Imambargah on 9th and 10th Muharram.
