UK team visits Rescue Service of Punjab

Islamabad: An International team UK (IETUK) visited Emergency Services Rescue 1122 Pakistan and visited rescue service of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Muzaffarabad AJK. The delegation was invited by Punjab Emergency Service Headquarters, to collaborate, partnership and also assist emergency service in quality assurance capacity buildingof operational staff & instructors.

The delegation headed by Mr Meherban Sadiq Fire & Community Safety Expert /National Chair international Emergency Team UK was included Mr Daryl Paul Oprey Ex-Director of Service Delivery, Ex-Chief Fire Officer Lead for quality inclusion National Joint Councils, Mr Mohammad Ali Fire Prevention & Emergency Driving Instructor, Stephen Garcia Ex-station Manager and Mr Sahibzada Irfan Shah, coordinator.

The delegation met with Founder Director General Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer, SI and discussed in details for the areas of future collaboration for operational capacity building of the Field Staff and training faculty of Service and Emergency services Academy. The delegation accompany by Ahsan Chief Monitoring Officer Training/ Head of Safety Wing Rescue 1122 visited different Rescue Stations of Punjab Emergency Service in Gujranwala, Jhelum, Muzzaferabad Murree, Nathyia Gali Rescue Station KP and District Rawalpindi to have a brief on ground orientation about the infrastructure, vehicle & equipment,procedure, process, and operational capability of staff.

In Rawalpindi, IETUK have been warmly welcomed by Dr Abdur Rehman District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi along with Ms Deeba Shahnaz Akhter Head of Community Safety and Information Headquarters Mr Ali Hussain emergency Officer Rawalpindi and all officers. Dr Abdur Rahman DEO Rescue 1122 briefed delegation on detail history of the emergency management and un-tired efforts put by the Founder Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer, (SI) and his team to establish a comprehensive Emergency Management System in Pakistan.

District Emergency Officer Dr. Abdur Rahman briefed them about the performance of emergency service of whole Punjab in which over 5.1 Million victims have been rescued in all districts of Punjab. Ms. Deeba Shahnaz Akhter, Head of Community Safety and Information briefed about the performance of Rescue Mohafiz Program through which 97000 volunteers have been registered with Rescue 1122 and trained on internationally certified emergency response course for developing safer communities in Pakistan.

Dr Abdur Rahman DEO Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi also highlighted the performance of District Rawalpindi that has responded to 153039 Emergency Calls since establishment of Emergency Service in the District and rescued 165006 helpless victims of emergencies in which 65745 were road traffic accidents, 6872 were fire incidents, 134 building collapse incidents, 118 were bomb blast incident, 4731 were crime incidents, 200 were drowning case, 8701 were special rescue operation (Animal Rescue) and 66538 medical emergencies were included.

Meherban Sadiq Fire & Community Safety Expert / National Chair orInternational Emergency Team UK, on behalf delegation thanked to Director General Emergency Service Rescue 1122 and his teams in all districts for such a wonderful learning experience and looking forward working together for safer communities. He also liked the idea and efforts for Rescue Mohafiz (Volunteers) and ensured all possible supports from IETUK to make it successful.
