ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has denied the issuance of any notification banning house job and internship for foreign students in the country.
"The (foreign grad house job ban) notification is fake and is circulated to the social and mainstream media by vested interests to serve own ends. It has nothing to do with us," PMDC president Prof. Dr. Shabir Lehri said on Monday.
He said the PMDC had approached the Federal Investigation Agency's Cyber Crime Cell to investigate the matter to locate the culpable persons for legal action.
He said in the PM&DC MBBS BDS (Admission, house job and internship) regulations 2016 which had not been implemented yet as it was in litigation, the internship/observer ship/clerkship of foreign student were discouraged in Pakistani to stop these students from wasting their time.
"The graduates who did MBBS and BDS from abroad and passed the PM&DC National Examination Board exam (NEB) step III are allowed to do their house job in the country's public and private sector hospitals approved by the PMDC," he said.
The PMDC president however said his organisation was trying its best to convince foreign countries offering admission to Pakistani students to offer jobs and house jobs to the Pakistanis graduating from there. He added that parents and students were directed to seek queries and any type of information if any directly from the PMDC office or PMDC website to prevent any miscommunication.
