PESHAWAR: A crisis management cell has been established at the Wapda House here to deal with any emergency during Muharram, particularly Ashura, on the feeders where Imambargahs are located.

The cell was set up on the directive of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco)’s chief executive Shabir Ahmad.

A Pesco press release said all necessary arrangements have been made to keep the power supply smooth during Moharram. It said trolley mounted transformers and other necessary equipment had been provided to all Pesco sub-divisions and complaint centres so that emergency situations could be tackled promptly. The press release gave phone numbers in Peshawar and other cities that could be contacted to make complaints.

Meanwhile, the Pesco chief executive ordered suspension of sub-divisional officer (SDO), Zaida sub-division, Shahzad, and SDP Yar Hussain sub-division, Fazal Hadi due to their poor performance in Swabi district. He was presiding over a meeting of the SEs of Mardan and Swabi circles where the performance was reviewed. The Pesco head warned that officers failing to improve performance would be suspended and even terminated from service.
