CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao on Thursday said that the government should complete its tenure and that his

party would oppose any attempt to form a national government.

He was speaking at a public meeting here, where senior leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Maj (Retd) Naeem Jan announced joining the QWP.

The QWP leader said his party was the staunch supporter of the rule of law and democratic process.

He said an independent and strong Parliament could resolve all problems, adding, any tussle among the institutions would undermine the system.

Aftab Sherpao said that Pakistan was not winning the war against terrorism through the US support and aid, but was defeating the forces of darkness due to the sacrifices of the nation.

He asked the government to form a unified foreign policy for the country.

The QWP chief added that his party had expressed reservations over the recent census report, adding that the QWP would not accept the result and figure of the Fata Census Interim Report.

He demanded fresh census in the seven tribal regions and that the displaced families should be included in the census.

Aftab Sherpao said his party had long lasting demand that Fata should be merged into the KP. He said the QWP would launch a protest campaign if the government used delaying tactics in this regard.

The QWP said they welcomed extension of Supreme Court jurisdiction to Fata in the recent process, but extension of the Islamabad High Court jurisdiction to the Fata was beyond understanding.
