Sardaryab bridge collapsed due to overloading of truck: PKHA

PESHAWAR: The recent incident of collapse of Sardaryab Bridge on September 10 occurred due to overloading of a truck, carrying 1100 bags of cement weighing 80 tonnes.
According to a press statement issued by Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA), technical team had cited overloading of truck as main reason for the incident. “The bridge was maintained adequately by PKHA and there was no problem in the bridge structure at the time of incident,” added the statement.
After the incident, Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, it added, efficiently managed to divert the traffic to the alternate route to avoid any problem to the running traffic.
