KASUR: Two gangsters who had head money were killed in a police encounter here on Sunday.
According to Usmanwala police sources, CIA police inspector Mian Farid received an information that notorious gangster Wazir alias Nikki, who was wanted in several heinous crimes and had head money of Rs 1 million, was present along with his two accomplices near Khilji Jagir. At this, a police team including City A-Div police SHO Malik Tariq, CIA police inspector Mian Farid and Usmanwala police SHO Shafqat Cheema raided the spot to arrest the gangsters. On seeing the police, the accused opened fire at the police party. In retaliation, two gangsters were killed while their third accomplice fled. The gangsters were identified as Wazir of Jora village and Akram alias Akri of Serai Mughal, who also had head money of Rs 300,000. The police also recovered one pump action, one Kalashnikov and a motorcycle near the gangsters. According to DPO Rai Babar Saeed, the gangsters were involved in 39 cases of heinous crimes.
