A resolution was submitted to the Sindh Assembly’s secretariat on Thursday to condemn the September 2 attack on opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan.

The resolution, jointly submitted by opposition lawmakers belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, the Pakistan Muslim League- Functional and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, says: “This house strongly condemns attack on Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan”, who miraculously remained unhurt in the incident that happened on the first day of Eidul Azha.

“This house demands that attackers and planners of this attack should be immediately arrested as sternest action should be taken against them. This house also demands that the National Action Plan against terrorism should be implemented in its letter and spirit.

“This house also pays tribute to policeman Moin and 14-year-old Arsal as they were martyred in the incident. This house is of the viewpoint that the attack on Khawaja Izharul Hassan was a planned conspiracy to disturb peace of Karachi. This house calls upon the Sindh government to provide financial compensation to other people who either were killed or got injured in the incident.  “We members of the assembly demand that the government should give due protection to all lawmakers of Sindh facing threats to their lives.”
