ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s designated permanent representative to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi has assured Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that she would try her best to live up to the challenge of protecting Pakistan’s interests and projecting he country’s principled stand on important matters prioritised by the government.
She called on the prime minister at the PM House on Friday prior to her departure for New York. She will assume the office early next week. The prime minister wished her good luck on her new assignment and said that it is important to remove misperceptions about Pakistan on a range of issues. He said it is important that Pakistan’s voice is heard in many events taking place during the current year.
Dr Lodhi thanked the government for reposing confidence in her for this important assignment. She is replacing Ambassador Masood Khan who will be relinquishing the charge in the UN headquarters tomorrow (Sunday) on completion of his contractual period.
