PMDC warns against admission in unrecognised colleges

Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has asked youth to get admission only in the medical and dental colleges recognised by it as the regulator of the sector.

It warned that those taking admissions in unrecognised medical and dental institutions would be registered by the PMDC and thus, not getting the chance to practice medicine, surgery or dentistry in the country.

According to Acting Registrar Dr.Syed Azhar Ali Shah, students can check the list of registered and authorized medical and dental colleges from PMDC website. He said that no medical or dental institution is allowed to train students which are not registered with PMDC or whose admissions have been stopped by the council.

The registrar said all institutions which are advertising admissions of medical and dental college must follow the seat allocation prescribed by the council and strict action shall be taken against the in case of any violation of PM&DC rules and regulations. He added that passed out medical dental graduates without having students registration with PMDC will not be registered as medical and dental practitioners.

The registrar said if any person had a problem regarding admissions of medical dental colleges, he or she may contact for complaints or grievance to the president PMDC or PMDC council members on the helpline and emailpresident@pmdc.org.pk. He added that the list of medical and dental college whose admissions have been banned and the colleges which are under litigation are also available on PM&DC website along with details.
