WCLA drive to stop illegal constructions

LAHORE

Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA) started a drive inside Taxali Gate to stop illegal constructions on Thursday.  The WCLA officials said the drive was launched started by the Building Control Department and as a kick-start a property in Bazaar Sheikhupuriyan, Taranum Chowk Taxali Gate has recently been partially demolished. The owner of the property, Shahzad Imtiaz, has been served with notices and an FIR has been registered against him. The property has also been sealed. 

The officials said similarly another property in the same vicinity whose possessor was Riaz Contractor has also been sealed and partially demolished. The team of Building Control Department is surveying inside Taxali Gate and taking actions against any illegal construction to save the original fabric of the city.

The officials added that properties of Nadeem Contractor and Muhammad Jamshed in Bhatti and Mori Gate have also been partially demolished and sealed. Property of Siddique Butt Contractor near Rim Market Fort Road, Sultan Contractor near Haveli Qabli Mahal Rang Mahal Chowk inside Shah Alam Market, Amjad Ali and Naveed Ali near Haveli Heera Pehlwan Farshi Bazaar Chunna Mandi inside Kashmiri Gate, Shahid contractor near Farshi Bazar inside Kashmiri Gate and property of Mushtaq Contractor near Kocha Gulzari inside Shah Alami Gate have also been sealed and partially demolished.  Director Conservation & Urban Planning, WCLA, Najamus Saqib said overnight illegal constructions since years have damaged the original fabric of the walled city.
