A painting competition is being held among students of schools, colleges and universities in Lahore on the theme of peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony.
A press release issued here Thursday said the competition was being held in two categories. Junior category for school students while senior category for students of colleges and universities, it added. It said interested students could submit their original works of art on the theme in 2D format in oil, water, crayon, pencil, pastels or any other material before February 25, 2015.
The submissions will be judged by a panel of senior artists and teachers of fine arts for the two categories and shortlist 50 paintings from each category which will form part of the exhibition. The top three submissions in each category will receive lucrative prizes, the statement said.
The press release said that the art world had a great influence on many societies and could be a vessel to spread messages, including those of peace and tolerance.
In Pakistan, artistic expressions in the form of music, drama, literature, poetry, dance, film, paintings, prints, posters, sculptures, and photography can contribute to spreading messages of peace and tolerance because of their popularity in the culture, the release maintained.
