PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has said that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is the backbone of police investigation that played a pivotal role in increasing trust of the courts in the performance of the police.
He made these remarks after being briefed by FSL Director Rabnawaz Khan about the performance, upgradation, training, capacity-building, manpower, equipment and short-term and long-term measures of the laboratory.
The FSL director informed the IGP about the existing and proposed disciplines and future plan of the laboratory.
The IGP was told that international standard of investigation was being pursued in the laboratory. There was no pendency in the laboratory. And all 4,500 cases have been examined and sent back to the relevant districts, he was informed. It was added that modern method was being adopted to preserve the crime scene. Likewise crime scene units have been established in eight districts.
