AIOU offers ‘fee instalment scheme’ for needy students
Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has introduced a fee-instalment scheme to facilitate the deserving students, says a press release.
This facility will be available for the ongoing (Autumn 2017) admission that will last till September 5. The decision to this effect is in line with the University’s motto, ensuring Education to All’s. “We believe that nobody should be left without education because of financial constraints,” said Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while presiding over a meeting that held here to review the Students’ support system.
Needy and deserving students around the country who are unable to deposit the whole fee of the semester could take benefit of this scheme. For this purpose, they have been advised to contact their respective Regional office.
Sufficient amount has been allocated in the budget to support poor and needy students through scholarships and fee-concession.The AIOU has also the distinction of providing free education to marginalized sections of the society including prisoners, disabled and drop-out girls.
The fee concession is also available to the students affected by natural disaster. They are
given relief in their annual fee in shape of scholarships. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui has directed the Director Admissions and Regional Directors of 44 Regional offices across the country to provide maximum facilities to the applicants for the admission. He also advised the Regional Directors to set up special camp at their offices for the guidance and support of the aspiring students.
