PHC CJ wants expeditious justice in all districts

MINGORA/SHANGLA: Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Wednesday said that Shangla would be transformed into a model district in terms of expeditious justice as the decades old deprivations would be eradicated.

“I have focused on provision of facilities to the litigants and availability of the best judges in the far-flung districts of the province,” the PHC chief justice said during his address to the District Bar Shangla, Tehsil Bar Bahrain and Khawazakhela in Swat.

The chief justice said that providing financial assistance, deputation of the best judicial officers and his personal monitoring was part of his policy to bring these districts at a par with other districts in the dispensation of justice.

He said that provision of justice was the independence of judiciary, adding that the judicial complex was a step towards provision of justice to the masses.  The chief justice concluded his series of visits to such far-flung districts of the province.

He visited the district courts and held meetings with judges, lawyers and staff members of district judiciary. He was briefed on the ongoing projects and performance of the judiciary in Shangla and Swat.

The PHC chief justice was also briefed about the targets, pendency analysis, office automation, safe and secure environment, equipping the courts and offices and facilitating the public at large/litigants.

He was also apprised about development of a website for online facilitation, SMS to bar members in case of leave of judicial officers, provision of scanners for digitalisation of the record and automation of district courts library.

The chief justice appreciated the efforts of the District & Sessions Judges and their teams. The members of the district bar expressed their gratitude over the visit and commitment of the chief justice to Shangla and Swat.
