LAHORE: “To develop critical and problem solving capabilities among the graduating students, it is high time to promote liberal arts education in Pakistan,” said Prof Dr Nizamuddin, Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) while addressing a symposium on “Liberal Arts Education: Grooming the Youth” organised in collaboration with Forman Christian College University (FCU) Lahore on the university’s campus on Wednesday.

A large number of students, faculty members, civil society members, and senior officers from PHEC participated in the symposium.  Addressing the participants of the symposium, Prof Dr Nizamuddin said liberal arts should be promoted across Pakistan, as it would better equip students to become well-rounded individuals who would become future leaders.  Dr Detweiler emphasised the need of the liberal arts education in the universities and colleges and discussed at length about the prospects of liberal arts.
