KARACHI: Rashid Khan has been appointed as acting chief executive officer (CEO) of Ufone, an Etisalat Group company, effective from August 15, 2017, an announcement said on Wednesday.
Khan, who is coming to Ufone with an experience spanning over decades, will replace Rainer Rathgeber, who has decided to join his family in Europe.
"I would like to welcome Khan on board and thank Rathgeber for his contributions to Ufone during his tenure and wish him all the best for his future," said Abdulrahim Nooryani, chairman Ufone Board of Directors, in a message.
Commenting on his appointment, the incoming CEO said that he was very excited to take this role. “I am looking forward to lead this exceptional organization of dedicated and talented professionals to take the business forward,” Khan said.
On the other hand, Rathgeber, in his message said the time with Ufone had been one of the most exciting phases of my business life. “I would like to say thanks to everyone involved. But: It is time to normalise my family life,” said the outgoing official.
Rathgeber had joined Ufone as CEO in March 2016 and has since then managed a significant turnaround for the company.
