‘Azadi Train’ leaves Margalla Station for countrywide journey
Islamabad: ‘Azadi Train’ has begun its countrywide journey here from Margalla Station to highlight the country’s rich culture and historic struggle in the Pakistan Movement.
Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb inaugurated the Azadi train.
Railways Parveen Agha on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Carriage Factory staff.
She also appreciated efforts of Rawalpindi and Lahore divisions of Railways for their expedition of ‘Azadi Train.’.
More than 100 labourers had worked to finalise the models based on cultural heritage of Pakistan.
She said, the train consist of five galleries and six floats highlighting Pakistan independence Movement with objective to educate people about the ideology and struggle of Pakistan under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
She said, each of the six floats will highlight the cultural and regional characteristics of KPK, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Punjab.
A Railway gallery to highlight architectural monument, style such as yellow stones, doom structure, colonial power majestic structure and grey sand stone structure.
ISPR NLC and Ministry of Information have facilitated Pakistan Railways in the preparation of their respective galleries.
A troupe of folk artist and puppeteers will accompany the train for the entertainment of general public.
Sharing the schedule of the train she said, on August 13 it will leave for Peshawar Cantt at 10:30 a.m from Rawalpindi and will be welcomed there at 7:15 p.m.
It will leave Rawalpindi Railway Station on August 15 at 9:15 p.m. in the morning and will come to Lahore at10:00 in the night time.
It will stopover in Lahore for two days and will leave for Multan on August 17. The Special Azadi Train will reach at Multan at11:30 p.m. and on August 18 it will leave for Multan at 9 a.m for Khanpur and will reach there at 7:19 in twilight.
After a night stay the train will proceed from Khanpur at 8:30 a.m and will arrive at Sukkur at 8 p.m.
On20 August will depart Sukkur at 9:30 in the morning and will arrive at Sibbi at 8 in the evening.
For residing there for a day will advance from Sibbi on August 21 at 7 in the morning and will arrive at Quetta at 5 in the evening.
On August 23 Special Azadi Train will depart Quetta at 7 in the morning and will arrive at Sukkur at7:30 in the evening.
For staying there for a day will depart Sukkur on August 24 at 8 in the morning and will arrive at Nawab Shah at 7 in the evening and through the same route will reach Tando Adam Hyderabad.
It will stay at Hyderabad for one night and via Kotri will lastly depart for Karachi Cantt. On August 25 this journey will end at Karachi Cantt at 6 p.m. — APP
