Despite the finance minister’s warning, the relevant authorities have not lowered the price of sugar. In our country, unfortunately, once the price of a commodity is raised, it is never decreased. The people of the country are now become habitual of buying goods at exorbitant prices. Previously, a kilo of sugar would cost Rs53. Now the price has reached to Rs65. Will the government do something constructive to decrease the prices of basic commodities?
When prices are lowered, many businesses hoard stock and sell it later at higher prices. A government cannot own all businesses, but it can devise proper strategies to regulate prices. It can also exercise its authority to keep a check on market prices to provide relief to the people.
