Nawaz made no struggle for democracy: Kaira
LAHORE: PPP central Punjab president Qamar Zaman Kaira has demanded former prime minister Nawaz Sharif publicly name the elements conspiring against him.
Flanked by vice president PPP central Punjab Ch Aslam Gill, Qamar Zaman Kaira alleged the main purpose of the rally led by Nawaz Sharif was to exert pressure on army and judiciary. He said Nawaz was still the beneficiary of this system as despite proofs of massive corruption, he had not been arrested unlike Asif Ali Zardari, who was first arrested and later investigations were initiated against him.
He said the court had ordered filing of reference against Nawaz and this was only ordered when proofs were found against the accused. Kaira said Nawaz had never made any struggle for democracy, and he always came out on road when he found himself under the dark cloud.
The PPP leader said Nawaz Sharif was remembering the Charter of Democracy (CoD) after losing power. To a question regarding social boycott of former prime minister, the PPP leader stated decision in this regard would be taken after consultation within the party. However, he said PPP was still standing by the CoD.
