Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) on Friday said the accountability process should be extended to all political parties, journalists, bureaucrats, generals and judges with an aim to ensure transparency and strengthen democracy in the country.
During a meeting of the central executive committee held under the chairmanship of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists president Afzal Butt, the members maintained that not a single person or a political party should be the target of the accountability process, otherwise it would not achieve its desired results.
The members also passed a resolution stating the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists always supported democracy and carried out struggle against those undemocratic forces that tried to derail the democratic process in the country.
"The journalists faced torture and sentences during their struggle for democracy and they will continue to put in their best efforts to strengthen the democratic process in the country," the resolution said.
It said the disqualification of the prime minister may cause political instability so all the state institutions should work under ambit of the Constitution to avoid any law and order situation in the country.
